Waterproof breathable membranes are primarily made of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (e-PTFE), a film formed by a special process into an ultrafine microporous structure. Water droplets, dust, and other fine particles cannot pass through, while air and vapor can. e-PTFE films can also be laminated with other breathable materials (such as nonwovens and woven fabrics) to create a wider range of waterproof breathable membrane materials.
These materials are mainly used to equalize pressure inside and outside sealed cavities while providing waterproofing, dust protection, and even oil resistance. Applications include household and consumer electronics, automotive lighting and electronics, outdoor devices, packaging, and transportation.
Waterproof breathable membrane materials can be die-cut to the size required by the customer, then bonded to sealed housings with adhesive, or fused to plastic housings (such as PBT-30GF, PA-30GF) by heat welding or ultrasonic welding.
Brady offers a high-performance waterproof breathable membrane product line and professional selection, design, and processing solutions to help improve product reliability and service life.

Various Vent Valves
Motors, sensors, and other electronic parts in vehicles need sealing against water, dust, and oil to prevent circuit failure, while also equalizing pressure differences from temperature changes so long-term negative pressure does not compromise the seal. Waterproof breathable membranes are therefore essential on these components.
Installing a suitable waterproof breathable membrane on headlights helps moisture escape quickly to reduce fogging and impact on internal electronics, while also equalizing pressure and providing waterproof, dustproof protection.
